POSITION OVERVIEW & LOGISTICS
House Doctors is a professional handyman and home improvement service company specializing in both large and small jobs across the Southern Tier.
Daily Logistics: As an apprentice, your day begins by driving your personal vehicle to a Lead/Senior Technician’s home. From there, you will ride with them in the company vehicle to service our customers in Binghamton, Elmira, Horseheads, Ithaca, and everywhere in between. This provides a great opportunity for one-on-one coaching throughout the day.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Traveling to a designated meeting point (Senior Technician's residence) each morning.
- Assisting Lead Technicians in completing home improvement projects (repairs, drywall, carpentry, etc.).
- Learning to organize and manage professional equipment and supplies.
- Communicating with clients to ensure a 5-star customer service experience.
- Maintaining a clean and safe job site at all times.
- Representing House Doctors professionally in the local community.
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Basic Construction Knowledge: You should be comfortable using basic hand and power tools (drills, saws, etc.).
- Reliable Transportation: You must have a reliable vehicle to get to and from the Senior Technician's home daily.
- Mechanical Aptitude: A natural "handiness" and ability to solve physical problems.
- Physical Stamina: Able to perform physical labor including bending, lifting (50 lbs), and working on ladders.
- Soft Skills: A friendly, professional personality and a commitment to dependability.
- Must Have: A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- Hourly: Starting at $18.00/hour. Pay increases are scheduled as you demonstrate increased technical skill and the ability to complete jobs independently.
- Commission: Additional project sales commission as you learn to estimate and upsell.
