POSITION OVERVIEW
This position is for a highly organized, customer-focused carpenter with a passion for delivering outstanding results. This is a part-time role with a strong emphasis on deck construction and repair, performed in full compliance with local and state building codes. Additional carpentry and home improvement skills are highly valued. House Doctors is a professional handyman and home improvement service company specializing in both large and small jobs. We are looking for energetic and friendly people who enjoy working on a variety of home improvement and maintenance projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Build and repair decks, porches, and outdoor structures in full compliance with local building codes and IRC standards
· Inspect existing decks for structural integrity and perform repairs to framing, decking boards, railings, stairs, and footings
· Read and interpret blueprints, building plans, and permit documents
· Rough and finish carpentry – framing, structural repairs, and trim work
· Door and window installation – interior and exterior
· Interior trim, molding, and millwork – baseboards, crown molding, casing, and wainscoting
· Stair and railing construction
· Fence construction and repair
· Organize and manage tools and equipment required to complete daily tasks
· Work directly with clients to provide an exceptional customer service experience
· Represent House Doctors professionally in the local community
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
· 5 years of carpentry, labor, or construction experience
· Demonstrated experience building and repairing decks to code (IRC standards, ledger connections, footing requirements, etc.)
· Hands-on knowledge of carpentry principles, techniques, tools, and materials
· Proficiency with hand tools and power tools (circular saw, miter saw, drill, framing nailer, etc.)
· Strong customer service skills – friendly, professional, and client-focused
· Ability to learn and operate basic computer programs and scheduling systems
· Strong work ethic – highly dependable and able to work independently
· Ability to perform physical labor including bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and lifting 50 lbs
· Valid driver's license required
· OSHA 10 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Experience with composite decking materials (Trex, TimberTech, Azek, etc.)
· Have their own vehicle
· Prior experience with permit-required projects
· Background in roofing, flooring, or painting is a plus
· Experience as a lead carpenter or crew foreman
· Basic knowledge of concrete footings and pier installation
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
