Job Description

Summary/Objective

The responsibility of the Project Manager is to provide and maintain overall direction of each project in a proactive and professional manner to include the list of duties below. Coordinate and properly communicate internally with superintendents, administrative assistants, accounting personnel and management to ensure all aspects of the project are being met. Coordinate and properly communicate externally with customers, consultants, and general contractors to assure all expectations are being met and to uphold our value of being the Choice.

Essential Functions:

• Estimating and take off material and labor for one or all types of
  • Plant maintenance
  • Millwright and rigging
  • Utility piping, sanitary piping & process piping
  • Boiler, chiller, tank, silo & compressor installation
  • Equipment installation
  • Structural steel fabrication & installation
  • Miscellaneous fabrication & installation of chutes, welded ductwork, handrail, stair, ladder, walkway, guardrail & bollard systems
• Plans, organizes, and directs the completion of specific projects while ensuring projects are on time, on budget, and within scope.
• Acknowledges the project management life cycle of initiation, planning, execution, and closure to ensure the project is properly executed from beginning to the end.
• Procures equipment and subcontractors.
• Performs regular jobsite visits.
• Maintains and monitors job progress reports and jobsite records including daily reports.
• Controls and reports job costs.
• Resolves technical or contractual issues.
• Assure the customer's expectations are being met.
• Be flexible and keep an open mind to change.
• Estimating and running jobs and making the job profits required by Houck.

Ability and flexibility for frequent travel is expected for this position.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment as well as on site at construction, food plant and manufacturing locations. The use of computers, printers, cell phones, telephones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines is required. Other functions can take place indoors or outdoors, sometimes in high, precarious places with fumes and/or airborne particles. The standard work environment has loud to very loud noise levels associated with various equipment, coworkers, and phone conversations. Often work must be performed in high and/or cramped workspaces and awkward positions. The employee works around hazardous situations, materials, and equipment.
