Houchin Community Blood Bank is seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Quality Assurance to lead our enterprise-wide Quality Program supporting the collection, processing, testing, and distribution of life-saving blood products.
This executive leadership role is responsible for driving regulatory excellence, inspection readiness, and continuous quality improvement across all departments and locations.
The Director of Quality Assurance will:
- Lead regulatory, accreditation, and consignee inspections
- Oversee internal and external audit programs
- Manage deviation investigations, CAPA systems, and error-prevention processes
- Own SOP lifecycle management and document control systems
- Oversee equipment qualification and validation programs
- Direct quality-related training and competency assessments
- Partner with executive and operational leadership to align quality strategy with organizational goals
- Ensure compliance with FDA, AABB, CLIA, cGMP, and all applicable regulatory standards
This role maintains authority over quality systems that directly impact product integrity and patient safety.
We are seeking a quality leader who brings:
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences (required)
- Minimum 5 years of management experience in Quality, Compliance, or Regulatory Audit
- Extensive experience in regulated environments (blood services, laboratory, cell therapy, or healthcare)
- Strong working knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS)
- Expertise in deviation investigations and CAPA programs
- Advanced technical writing and regulatory correspondence skills
- Experience leading inspection readiness initiatives
ASQ CQA and/or SBB certification highly preferred.
