Job Description
Houchens Food Group, a company within Houchens Industries, is looking for a responsible and knowledgeable forklift operator to move product accordingly within our warehouse! The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating various types of forklifts and material handling equipment to ensure the efficient movement of goods within the warehouse. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Forklift Operator or in a similar role is preferred.
- Familiarity with order picking processes and warehouse operations.
- Proficient in using various material handling equipment, including pallet jacks and cherry pickers.
- Knowledge of warehouse management systems is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to lift heavy loads (up to 50 pounds) and perform physical tasks throughout the shift.
- Valid forklift certification is required; training may be provided for qualified candidates.
Skills
- Forklift experience is preferred but not required.
- Verify product moves for the work day.
- Assume responsibility for notifying management of damaged or incorrect product.
- Working knowledge of computer programs for recording data.
- Great communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to lift 50lbs
- Ability to work in freezer/cooler atmosphere for long periods of time with the provided proper PPE.
- · Willingness to aid in any area to ensure the product is shipped correctly and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts, including pallet jacks, cherry pickers, and clamp trucks, to move materials and products safely within the warehouse.
- Update the product moves for appropriate selection zones for the day upon arrival.
- Wearing the proper PPE for the area of replenishment.
- Retrieve bulk pallets of product from the displayed locations and ship them accordingly in the system.
- Providing down-stacked pallets for order selection.
- Retrieving special orders to be picked up.
- Knowledge of order selection
- Maintain an organized and clean work area, adhering to safety regulations at all times.
- Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to optimize workflow and improve operational efficiency.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines while operating equipment.
