JOB SUMMARY

Provide a warm, friendly, personalized experience for our guests. To include making and serving coffee, tea, specialty beverages and maintaining grab and go breakfast items.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & FUNCTIONS

Operational Responsibilities

  • Contribute positively to the team within the department.
  • Greet guests and suggest beverage order, utilizing upselling techniques.
  • Prepare for all requests/ beverage orders paying attention to detail (i.e., preference of coffee blend, daily, sugar ratios, etc.)
  • Follow beverage recipes.
  • Serve beverages and prepare grab and go food items (i.e., kolaches, overnight oats, cinnamon rolls, scones, fruit, and yogurt, non-alcoholic beverages, etc.)
  • Maintain sanitary and clean work areas and equipment.
  • Work closely with the culinary team to ensure all grab and go items are prepared and available.
  • Monitor and anticipate guest needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests even when busy.
  • Maintain positive guest relations. Be familiar with all hotel services/features.
  • Handle guest complaints and ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Adhere to payment, cash handling, credit card, and room charge policies and procedures.
  • Participate in on-going training and meetings.
  • Comply with Valencia Hotel Collection (and its affiliates) standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Valencia Hotel Group (and its affiliates) standards as required by scheduling which will vary dependent upon the hotel’s needs.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies and service procedures.
  • Complete all set up and breakdown of daily grab and go items and equipment.
  • Assist with any side work or additional prep work.

Guest Services

  • Respond promptly to guest requests and beverage orders, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Handle guest complaints professionally and work toward resolution to maintain guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain positive guest relations by being familiar with all hotel services and features.
  • Anticipate guest needs and provide proactive assistance, even during busy periods.

Team Support and Training

  • Participate in ongoing training sessions and departmental meetings to stay updated on standards and procedures.
  • Support team members by assisting with side work, prep tasks, and maintaining a collaborative environment.
  • Share knowledge of beverage recipes and service standards with new team members when needed.

Communication and Reporting

  • Communicate effectively with the culinary team to ensure grab-and-go items are prepared and available.
  • Report any equipment issues or unsafe conditions immediately to the supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate cash handling and payment records in compliance with hotel policies.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all Valencia Hotel Group safety standards and sanitation procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with TABC and Food Handler certification requirements.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas to prevent hazards and ensure food safety.
  • Adhere to hotel policies regarding cash handling, credit card transactions, and room charge procedures

BASICS

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in all work areas
  • Display courteous behavior with guests and team members
  • Report on any unsafe conditions immediately
  • Ensure hotel equipment is in proper working condition
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by the supervisor

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting: None
  • Standing/Walking: Continuous throughout shift
  • Lifting/Carrying: Up to 25 lbs. (coffee supplies, grab-and-go items)
  • Other Physical Requirements: Frequent bending, reaching, and handling of equipment.

Working Environment

  • Interior: Coffee bar, grab-and-go area, and guest interaction spaces within the hotel lobby.
  • Exterior: None (position is fully indoors).

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous barista or customer service experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Effective communication, multitasking, and teamwork abilities are emphasized.
  • Familiarity with Tabit (POS system) is a plus.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective time management and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well with a team and demonstrate attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills and interpersonal abilities
