Purpose of Position

To ensure that all guest needs are met in a timely manner and ensure the highest standards of the guest experience are met.

Position Mission/Overview

As the first person that guests encounter at Hotel Sorrento, the Mission of the Valet/Bell Attendant is to provide the best possible first impression for our guests, pursuant to our core values, and is responsible for setting the tone for both a great experience, as well as encouraging return visits. In addition to assisting guests with their vehicles and luggage, the Valet/Bell Attendant will also be responsible for security, safety, and cleanliness of common spaces that will enhance the stay experience of our guests. They will also assist other departments as required throughout the shift to ensure the highest level of customer service is provided for all Hotel Sorrento guests.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities to include the following

  • As an important member of the Hotel welcome team, you will extend a warm welcome, and a fond farewell to all arriving and departing guests. Greet and open doors for all guests and assist in packing and unpacking cars whenever possible.
  • Assist guests with luggage to and from their room, introduce them to the Front Desk using their name for check-in, and show key features of the guest room when possible.
  • Park and retrieve guest cars in onsite parking garage, and staging cars based on guest needs while adhering to hotel parking policy. Maintain accurate key tracking systems and parking logs to pass this information to incoming Front Desk and Valet staff.
  • Maintain the appearance and cleanliness of the Hotel entrance, Lobby and common areas such as bathrooms. This includes but is not limited to ensuring that garbage cans are emptied, doors are cleaned, brass on luggage carts, sign placards and elevator is polished, counters are wiped down, water station is full and temperature and music volume are at appropriate levels.
  • Complete delivery of items requested by guests to their rooms, including but not limited to Ice, linens, sundry items, room service/package items, amenities, microwaves, pack n plays, rollaway beds, refrigerators, etc.
  • Exhibit a meticulous image, uniform and grooming standards that are commensurate with Hotel Sorrento standards and values. At all times, demonstrate the highest level of professionalism in dealing with guests, staff and other managers.
  • Coordinate transportation requests for guests.
  • Execute regular, periodic property walkthroughs, attending to any cleanliness issues as needed. Maintain a safe and secure workplace environment by monitoring security cameras and performing checks of common areas, bell storage closets and the parking garage. When necessary, create incident reports, and pass along this important information to incoming teammates and management.
  • Maintain good working relationships with key partner suppliers and emergency services like police and fire department.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of hotel services, products and procedures, as well as understanding the local area and happenings/events in the area to better assist guests with recommendations.
  • Focus on working in a safe manner and always creating a safe working environment. Keep work areas and spaces clean and clear of clutter.
  • Support, maintain and participate in other duties as determined necessary by manager.

· Able to drive all types of vehicles, including manual and automatic transmissions, in a competent and safe manner.

Education/Vocational Experience

The education, specialized training, required licenses or certifications and/or years of directly related experience required to enter this job:

· High School Diploma minimum.

· Three to six months’ related experience.

Pay: $21.30 per hour
