VALET ATTENDANT JOB DESCRIPTION

The Valet Attendant is responsible for driving, parking, and retrieving guest vehicles to ensure a smooth and welcoming experience upon their arrival and departure. The valet parking attendant returns vehicles from the parking garage promptly and safely and provides excellent customer service to each guest including assisting guests with their luggage.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Include the following; Other duties may be assigned.

  • Greet and welcome guests to the hotel and offer professional valet services
  • Accommodate guests by opening doors and assisting with luggage or other heavy items
  • Direct traffic in the parking area as needed and assist guests in entering and leaving the parking lot and hotel
  • Answer guests' questions regarding directions, local parking, local attractions, hotel amenities and other available services
  • Collect and accurately label keys belonging to guests to ensure their proper return
  • Park guests' vehicles in the hotel garage and in the hotel driveway following all traffic laws
  • Operate vehicles safely and responsibly
  • Organize and file paperwork regarding guests' vehicles and daily transactions
  • Ensure front drive, parking garage and all Valet areas are presentable and functioning. Keep the driveway areas clear of any unauthorized vehicular parking, staging or abandonment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be able to perform each of the essential functions and responsibilities satisfactorily.
  • Basic conversational English language skills.
  • Ability to learn Valet software system.
  • Must possess a valid California Drivers License and be a proven safe driver with a clean driving record for a minimum of 3 years.
  • For insurance purposes, must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
  • Flexible to work weekdays and weekends and some holidays.

Work Experience and/or Education

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED

Preferred Training

  • Previous Valet Attendant experience preferred.
  • Luxury hotel experience

Pre-Requisites

  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Weekend and holiday availability

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Job Type: Part-Time, hourly
Compensation: $16.90 per hour plus gratuity
Hours: 16 - 35 hours per week
Shifts: AM or PM shifts may be assigned;

AM1: 7:00 am – 3:00 pm, AM

PM3: 4:00 pm – 12:00am
(must have weekend and holiday availability & have a minimum availability of 3 shifts per week)

The rate listed is the rate Hotel San Luis Obispo reasonably expects to pay for this position. The budgeted hourly rate that Hotel San Luis Obispo reasonably expects to pay for this position is $16.90 per hour. Rate of pay offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of consistent pay practices at the hotel.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, run, use hands to grasp objects; reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch; speak and listen. The employee must be able to work in various weather conditions, including but not limited to heat, wind, rain, etc. The employee must occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds. Must be able to push and pull 75 pounds occasionally. Requires full range of motion. Vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
