A Hotel Night Auditor is a hotel team member responsible for overseeing overnight front desk operations while also performing end-of-day financial and accounting tasks.
Primary Responsibilities of a Night Auditor:
1. Front Desk Guest Service
- Check in late-arriving guests
- Assist with guest requests overnight
- Handle phone calls, wake-up calls, and emergencies
- Resolve guest complaints during overnight hours
2. Nightly Financial Reconciliation
- Balance daily room revenue and payments
- Reconcile cash, credit card, and billing transactions
- Verify guest folios and charges are accurate
- Close out the hotel’s business day in the PMS system
3. Reporting
- Run daily revenue reports
- Prepare occupancy and arrival/departure reports
- Audit no-shows, cancellations, and rate discrepancies
- Send management overnight summaries if required
4. Security Oversight
- Monitor lobby and property activity overnight
- Ensure doors/access points are secure
- Respond to safety or emergency situations
Typical Shift:
Usually works between 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
