HOST/HOSTESS- On Call Job Details Job Location San Francisco - San Francisco, CA Salary Range $32.00 - $35.00 Hourly Description Job Summary We are looking for a Host or Hostess to join our team and be the first point of contact for our guests. Host/Hostess responsibilities include greeting guests, providing accurate wait times and escorting customers to the dining and bar areas. For this role, you should have solid organizational and people skills to make sure our guests have a positive dining experience from the moment they arrive till their departure. Schedule: Mornings: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday Evenings: Monday Schedule is subject to change dependent on business needs Job Duties and Responsibilities Greet all guests upon arrival and departure. Welcome guest by name when he/she is a return guest. Manage reservations. Answer all incoming calls, record and distribute messages. Escort guests to appropriate seats or bar areas. Provide description of menus and food item to guests. Provide accurate wait times and monitor waiting lists. Provide menus and announce waiter/waitress’s name. Coordinate with wait staff about available seating options. Maintain a clean reception area. Cater to guests who require extra attention (e.g. children, elderly). Assist wait staff as needed. Required Qualifications At least one-year of experience in a service industry position Flexible schedule is required, must be available to work evening shifts including weekends and holidays. Have a genuine ability to interact with guests in a professional and courteous manner. The position requires an energetic and enthusiastic personality as well as someone who can work well under pressure Ability to make instant decisions in the dining room. Must be able to stand for 8 hour shifts Preferred Qualifications Previous guest service experience of at least one year and understanding of Open Table Knowledge of Micros or other POS systems Hotel/hospitality experience Work Conditions Most tasks are performed as part of a team with a moderate amount of supervision. Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems. Work tasks are performed walking, standing, lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, and grasping. Standing and walking occurs 90-95% of the time. Walking occurs continuously in and between kitchen and banquet or meeting room areas. Many work tasks require the ability to lift and carry in excess of 30 pounds 100% of the time. Talking and hearing occurs continuously in the process of communicating with guests, co-workers, and supervisors. Some work tasks are performed on carpeted areas, while others are performed on tiled or other hard surfaces. Some work tasks require employees to come in contact with hazardous chemicals. Employee should use precautions including but not limited to rubber gloves.
