Position Overview
Hotel Hugo is seeking a professional, energetic overnight Security Officer to support the safety and security of our guests, staff, and property within a luxury hotel environment. This role requires a polished presence, strong judgment, and the ability to remain calm and authoritative when handling confrontational or high‑pressure situations.
The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, service‑minded, and committed to strictly following policy, procedure, and regulatory requirements at all times.
Current FLSD holders are eligible for max pay per hour.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor the Fire Command Center and all fire life safety systems
- Respond decisively and professionally to fire alarms, emergencies, and security incidents
- Conduct regular patrols of the hotel and surrounding areas to ensure safety and compliance
- Professionally address and de‑escalate confrontational or non‑compliant individuals while maintaining a composed, guest‑focused demeanor
- Enforce hotel policies and procedures consistently and without exception
- Log and track incoming and outgoing packages and manage overnight deliveries
- Maintain accurate Lost & Found records
- Complete clear, thorough, and timely incident reports
- Program, issue, and manage building keys and access control
- Perform lock interrogations and security audits as required
- Operate two‑way radios and communicate clearly with hotel leadership and emergency responders
Requirements & Qualifications
- Valid New York State Security Guard License (required)
- Ability and willingness to obtain FDNY Fire Life Safety Director (FLSD) License Current FLSD license strongly preferred - Current FLSD holders are eligible for max pay per hour.
- Prior experience in a hotel, luxury hospitality, high‑rise, or commercial building environment preferred
- Ability to remain calm, confident, and authoritative in confrontational or emergency situations
- Strong understanding of protocol, chain of command, and discretion
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Professional appearance, demeanor, and reliability suitable for a luxury property
- Ability to work independently and uphold standards during overnight operations
