JOB SUMMARY:
The IRD Captain is responsible for assisting in overseeing the service and delivery of Room Service staff and ensuring that carts/trays are organized and delivered in a timely manner. They will also, as needed, deliver food from the kitchen to the guests, explaining food items and ensure that all amenities are completed and delivered.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist with training and scheduling employees to ensure proper coverage.
  • Assist and oversee preparation of Room Service carts with ordered food and beverage.
  • Take room service orders, as needed.
  • Delivers Room Service orders to hotel rooms.
  • Ensures the guest’s needs are met by ensuring orders are correct upon delivery and explaining food items to the guest.
  • Ensure all areas are kept clean.
  • Properly use equipment, tools or systems to complete assigned tasks and complies with company safety standards.
  • Develop a working knowledge of any rules, regulations and internal controls applicable to position.
  • Complete all paperwork in accordance with hotel standards.
  • Cash handling and/or check settlement
  • Adhere to and comply with both departmental and overall property policies and procedures.
  • Picks up trays according to department specifications or upon guest request, as needed.
  • Resolves guest complaints within scope of authority; otherwise refers the matter to management. Notifies supervisor and/or Security of all unusual events, circumstances, missing items, or alleged theft.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be over the age of 21 to serve and deliver alcohol.
  • Alcohol awareness certification and valid food handler card as required by local or state government agency.
  • 1-2 years of prior supervisory and IRD experience.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a positive/upbeat fashion utilizing English; both in oral and written form.
  • Interpersonal skills with focused attention on guest needs to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Possess basic food & service knowledge.
  • Ability to learn and use telephone and POS computer systems used at the hotel.
  • Ability to lift or carry a minimum of 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks assigned.
  • Must know all applicable health standards. Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, ordinances and regulations and company policy regarding serving alcohol to minors and intoxicated patrons.
  • Preferably bartender and wine service experience
  • May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
