JOB SUMMARY:
The IRD Captain is responsible for assisting in overseeing the service and delivery of Room Service staff and ensuring that carts/trays are organized and delivered in a timely manner. They will also, as needed, deliver food from the kitchen to the guests, explaining food items and ensure that all amenities are completed and delivered.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with training and scheduling employees to ensure proper coverage.
- Assist and oversee preparation of Room Service carts with ordered food and beverage.
- Take room service orders, as needed.
- Delivers Room Service orders to hotel rooms.
- Ensures the guest’s needs are met by ensuring orders are correct upon delivery and explaining food items to the guest.
- Ensure all areas are kept clean.
- Properly use equipment, tools or systems to complete assigned tasks and complies with company safety standards.
- Develop a working knowledge of any rules, regulations and internal controls applicable to position.
- Complete all paperwork in accordance with hotel standards.
- Cash handling and/or check settlement
- Adhere to and comply with both departmental and overall property policies and procedures.
- Picks up trays according to department specifications or upon guest request, as needed.
- Resolves guest complaints within scope of authority; otherwise refers the matter to management. Notifies supervisor and/or Security of all unusual events, circumstances, missing items, or alleged theft.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned.

- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be over the age of 21 to serve and deliver alcohol.
- Alcohol awareness certification and valid food handler card as required by local or state government agency.
- 1-2 years of prior supervisory and IRD experience.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a positive/upbeat fashion utilizing English; both in oral and written form.
- Interpersonal skills with focused attention on guest needs to deal effectively with all business contacts.
- Must be able to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Possess basic food & service knowledge.
- Ability to learn and use telephone and POS computer systems used at the hotel.
- Ability to lift or carry a minimum of 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks assigned.
- Must know all applicable health standards. Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, ordinances and regulations and company policy regarding serving alcohol to minors and intoxicated patrons.
- Preferably bartender and wine service experience
- May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
