POSITION SUMMARY:
To provide guests with a secure, comfortable environment by assisting the Manager - Facilities and Guest Experience in ongoing Preventative Maintenance programs, ensuring that all mechanical systems are operating in accordance with the standards of the Historic Hotel Bethlehem, and assisting with Guest Experience Bellmen if needed.
Must be flexible with alternating working day and night shift if necessary. Must be able to work 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift if needed (call-outs, other maintenance employees on vacation, etc.)
Weekends and holiday availability is required. Overtime is required on an as needed basis.
Compensation based on experience.
SKILLS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Light carpentry skills, electrical, and plumbing experience is a plus
- Painting experience
- Respond to both guest and hotel staff reports of non-functioning equipment immediately
- Maintains rooms in optimal operating condition by performing repairs as needed
- Performs preventative maintenance throughout other areas of the hotel as well, including both the front of the house, the central plant and the interior and exterior of the building
- Maintains operating equipment in working condition by performing routine equipment checks and repairs
- Demonstrates familiarity with the hotel’s safety systems and takes corrective action on any maintenance or operating problems which effect the security of operating conditions of the hotel
- Gives personal attention, takes personal responsibility and uses teamwork when providing guest service
- Listens, apologizes with empathy, finds a solution and follows through when resolving guest problems
- Ability to deal well with people in a professional and courteous manner
- Ability to work weekends and holidays
QUALIFICATIONS:
Hotel Experience of 3 years is preferred. Must be 21 years of age or older. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to communicate effectively and verbally in English. Excellent hospitality skills. Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work a flexible schedule including extended hours, weekends and holidays.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have the physical capability to lift, push or pull at least 30-50 pounds. Also, applicants must have the ability to use abdominal and back muscles and be able to stand for the duration of the shift. Must also have the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists, and to reach and stretch, bend, kneel and squat.
