Daily Schedule:        Monday through Friday, 3:45 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Summer Portals at Hotchkiss School includes a wide variety of academic and recreational offerings to rising 6^th through 9^th grade students, many of whom are experiencing a residential learning experience for the first time. Students come to Summer Portals from diverse nationalities and cultures, seeking academic enrichment and exploration.

Summer Portals is seeking per diem supervisors for various afternoon athletic activities as listed below. You can apply to supervise select dates as you wish.

Session I  - June 28 - July 3

Afternoon Soccer 3:45 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Afternoon Tennis 3:45 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Session II - July 13 - July 17

Afternoon Soccer 3:45 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Afternoon Tennis 3:45 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervisors are responsible for overseeing an athletic activity. They are responsible for verifying that fellows take attendance and communicate absences immediately to the Dean/Director. For soccer, the supervisor should also prepare a plan for the day (drills, scrimmages, etc). For squash, golf, and tennis, they should make sure that the assigned students are behaving in a safe and sportsmanlike manner. Golf supervisors will be assigned 4-5 students who will play 3-4 holes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Arrive 15 minutes before the start to get the proper equipment from the cage if necessary.
• Assure that any injured students are taken to the health center by the fellows.
• Tennis, ensure proper footwear, no more than four students per court, and that rackets are used at a safe distance from others.
• Soccer: make sure that students play safely.
• Supervisors must complete online professional boundaries training in Sexual Harassment Prevention, CT Department of Children and Families Mandated Reporter Training, Child Trafficking in CT and Prevention of Adult Sexual Misconduct.

• Possess excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Possess strong communication skills that effectively promote inclusive and respectful behavior amongst students and respectful exchange amongst colleagues.
• Friendly attitude and approachable demeanor that exhibits compassion, empathy, and patience for students.

PHYSICAL WORK CONDITIONS

• Must be able to maintain a stationary position and/or traverse while performing essential responsibilities.
• Must be able to communicate and converse as well as distinguish and observe.
• The Hotchkiss School is a tobacco-free and drug-free work environment.
