Medical Chaperone

Status:             Per Diem, non-benefit, up to 10 hours per week

Schedule:        Availability Mon/Tues/Thurs/Friday, 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm, and Wed 11:00 am - 2:00 pm with scheduling flexibility

Travel:             Yes

Compensation: Pay range, $20 - $25/hour.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Medical Chaperone PSL Driver will transport students in School Transport Vehicles to scheduled medical appointments. They must maintain an acceptable driving record and CT Public Service License with an A-endorsement or out-of-state equivalent. Flexibility is needed to accommodate medical appointment scheduling needs. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain availability for medical appointment scheduling needs.
• Drive students in student transport vehicles to medical appointments as scheduled by the Health Center Coordinator or designee.
• Remain with students for medical appointments, when deemed necessary by Health Center staff.
• Maintain confidentiality related to all student medical appointments.
• Responsible for learning the destination and route before the trip.
• Must be attentive to traffic and weather conditions.
• Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections as required by the CT DMV.
• Submit to random drug tests as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• High school graduate or GED.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
• Must have the ability to learn travel routes.
• Must maintain CPR certification.
• Must successfully pass a criminal and driving background check.
• Must have or be able to obtain a Connecticut Public Service License (PSL) A-endorsement or out-of-state equivalent.
• Must maintain an acceptable driving record and physical standards (MCSA-5875).
• Must be able to pass and maintain compliance for USDOT drug screen (49 CFR part 653).
• Must be at least 21 years of age with 5 years of driving experience.
• Must be dependable and able to safely operate student transportation vehicles, including Suburban-sized vehicles.

PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:

• Occasional bending, reaching, and stooping.
• Sitting and driving for extended periods of time.
• Occasional exposure to potentially infectious diseases.
