ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Although additional duties and related tasks may be assigned, the essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:
Driver Training & Development
- Conduct and coordinate initial, proficiency, regulatory, and retraining programs for drivers.
- Perform behind-the-wheel (BTW) road tests and route familiarization for new and existing drivers.
- Deliver vehicle and route-specific training to ensure safe and compliant operation across commuter assignments.
- Support onboarding and classroom-based training, including in-service and refresher sessions.
- Coordinate and prepare training materials for all training formats, including classroom, BTW, and skills-based programs.
- Track and maintain driver training certifications, attendance, and performance records.
- Provide training and support for driver technology tools such as ELD tablets, GPS systems, and mobile learning platforms.
Safety, Compliance & Incident Response
- Respond to and investigate accidents or incidents, including documentation, photo capture, interviews, and assisting with police reports.
- Investigate unsafe driving complaints, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure all routes are operated by appropriately trained personnel.
- Contribute to company-wide safety education and compliance initiatives.
- Assist the Safety and Compliance Manager with incident reporting and collision subrogation efforts.
- Support and help manage compliance with the company’s drug and alcohol testing program.
- Participate in the coordination of quarterly safety meetings and other driver safety education activities.
Operations Support & Documentation
- Maintain organized personnel and qualification files related to training, safety incidents, and new hire onboarding.
- Communicate operational issues identified in the field and assist in resolving them efficiently.
- Support daily safety department operations by performing tasks that enhance workflow and effectiveness.
- Serve as an alternate Security Coordinator, assisting with implementation of the company's security program.
- Contribute to overall team success by completing related duties and special assignments as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education / Experience Required:
- Minimum 2 years’ total experience with CDL (Class A or B)
- Minimum 1-year experience operating vehicle “in-type” (similar to prospective position)
- Previous experience supervising staff is preferred, but not required
- Safety, Training and DOT Regulation experience is required
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Class A or B Driver’s License with a passenger endorsement and air brakes certification highly preferred but not required.
