Job Title: Coronado Fitness Center Fitness CoordinatorDepartment: Parks and RecreationReports To: Director, Parks & Recreation FLSA Status: Non-ExemptPay Grade: 08Approved By: Director, Parks & Recreation Approved Date: 12.15.2025Summary: Appointed by the Coronado Fitness Center Manager. Must have the ability to relate to customers and resolve problems. May be asked to act in absence of the Coronado Fitness Center Manager. Requires valid Arkansas driver’s license and clean driving record with proof of liability insurance.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Recruit, train and supervise land instructors, encouraging instructors to cross train for various class offerings; perform performance reviews. Responsible for scheduling instructors to provide coverage for all classes both in and outside of the facility.Maintains records of certifications for instructors. Schedules instructor training as needed.Develops class formats, assists in the training and growth of instructors and leads classes in a safe, professional and positive manner.Must be prepared to teach any class as needed.Performs daily check of weight room and studio, reporting all safety, cleaning or maintenance issues to the manager or maintenance supervisor.Required to obtain a Red Cross Lifeguard certification Must be willing and able to obtain a nationally accredited personal training certification and/or Group Fitness Instructor certification and/or an Aquatic certification, and keep in good standing.Must be capable of setting up a personalized program using cardio and weight room equipment.Must be knowledgeable of operation and maintenance of cardio and weight room equipment.Must be able to act as cashier when needed.Maintain all records, daily reports, record of events and any other reports as needed, including overseeing the personal trainer contractors.Must be able to work weekends, evenings and/or holidays.Manage Volunteer Attendant and POA Wellness programs, ensuring all participants meet specified requirements.Knowledge and use of marketing strategies for most valuable outcome for POA.May be required to drive POA vehicle or personal vehicle while conducting POA business.Regular attendance is required.Any other related duties as assigned by Supervisor.Deliver outstanding customer service, making every effort to accommodate customer needs.Ensure the safety of patrons and staff through accident prevention and safety policy, enforcing all facility and recreation location rules and regulations.Have a thorough knowledge of rules, regulations and operational use with regard to POA amenity use.Maintain a safe, clean amenity/facility at all times. Ability to effectively describe a physical ability as in the use of a weight machine or specific exercise.Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
