Hot Paws Pet Resort is a high-volume, fast-paced dog boarding, daycare, and grooming facility in Fernandina Beach. We pride ourselves on providing safe, high-quality care in a clean, professional, and pet-loving environment. Our grooming department is busy, well-supported, and an essential part of our operation.

Position Overview

We are hiring either an experienced Groomer or a Grooming Assistant, depending on skill level and experience.

This role is ideal for:

• A professional groomer looking for a steady, high-demand environment with support staff

OR

• A grooming assistant/bather looking to grow their skills and work closely with experienced groomers

Applicants will be considered for the role that best matches their experience.

Key Responsibilities

(Responsibilities vary by position)

For Groomers:

• Perform full-service grooms including bathing, blow-drying, haircuts, nail trims, ear cleaning, and anal gland expressions
• Style dogs according to breed standards or client preferences
• Communicate clearly with pet parents regarding coat condition and grooming needs
• Maintain a clean, safe, and professional grooming workspace
• Sanitize tools and equipment between each use
• Work collaboratively with grooming assistants to maintain efficient scheduling
• Accurately document services and notes in Gingr

For Grooming Assistants:

• Bathe, brush, and dry dogs of all breeds and sizes
• Clip nails, clean ears, and assist with grooming prep
• Safely handle and monitor dogs for stress or discomfort
• Clean and sanitize tubs, tables, tools, and work areas
• Restock supplies and wash/fold towels
• Assist groomers with dog handling and daily workflow
• Accurately document grooming notes and client preferences

Requirements

All Candidates:

• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
• Comfortable handling dogs of all sizes and temperaments
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a wet, noisy environment
• Strong attention to detail and cleanliness
• Team-oriented with clear communication skills
• Flexible availability including weekends and holidays

Additional Requirements for Groomers:

• Minimum 1 year of professional grooming experience required
• Must supply own grooming tools in good working condition
• Strong time management and efficiency skills

Additional Preferences for Grooming Assistants:

• Previous bathing or grooming experience preferred (but not required)
• Willingness to learn and take direction in a fast-paced setting

Schedule

• Monday–Friday: 7:00 AM to approximately 4:00 PM

(End time may vary slightly based on daily grooming volume and schedule)

• Saturday: 7:00 AM to approximately 12:30 PM
• Sunday: Closed for grooming
• Must be available for occasional schedule adjustments based on business needs
