Hostos Community College Children’s Center, Inc. is seeking an experienced and passionate Education Director to lead our high-quality early childhood education program. Our mission is to provide student-parents with access to a safe, nurturing, affordable, and developmentally rich environment for their children. We serve infants, toddlers, and preschoolers across six classrooms.
The Education Director will play a key leadership role in shaping curriculum, supporting teachers, and ensuring the highest standards of early childhood practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated early childhood professional who is committed to mentoring educators and fostering strong family partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee curriculum development, planning, and implementation across all classrooms.
- Supervise and support instructional staff through coaching, mentoring, and professional development.
- Review lesson plans and classroom practices for fidelity to Creative Curriculum and TSG.
- Ensure developmentally appropriate classroom management practices.
- Collaborate with teachers and the Mental Health Consultant to support IFSP and IEP goals.
- Conduct teacher observations, provide feedback, and lead new-hire training.
- Facilitate Parent/Teacher Conferences and participate in family outreach initiatives.
- Ensure full compliance with Article 47 of the NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene.
- Support implementation of the QualityStarsNY Rating Improvement System.
- Lead bi-monthly Education Team meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Center Director.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.
- NYS Permanent Teaching Certification (Birth–2 or PK–6).
- Demonstrated knowledge of Creative Curriculum and TSG assessment.
- Experience supervising or coaching early childhood educators preferred.
- Ability to meet all DOHMH and agency clearance requirements.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and family-engagement skills.
- Commitment to professional growth—for self and staff.
- Team-oriented, diplomatic, and skilled in supporting teachers and families.
