About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Gastroenterology (GI) Surgery department. The RN will be responsible for coordinating and providing high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing GI surgical and procedural treatments. This role involves leading the team in the operating room, supporting surgeons, and ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and care.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative nursing care for GI surgical patients.
- Serve as Charge Nurse for assigned cases, ensuring effective workflow and communication.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and responses during procedures and treatments.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and assist with anesthesia preparation.
- Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and nursing standards.
- Collaborate with physicians, anesthesiologists, and the surgical team to ensure patient well-being.
- Maintain accurate documentation in patient charts and electronic health records.
- Support patient education and post-operative recovery guidance.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (required).
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) License in the State of Illinois (required).
- Current CPR certification (required).
- ACLS certification (preferred; required for critical care and ER).
- PALS certification (required for ER and Pediatrics).
- NRP certification (required for Special Care Nursery).
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to respond quickly to patient condition changes.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification.
- Prior experience as a Charge Nurse or in an Operating Room (OR) setting.
- GI Surgery or Endoscopy experience preferred.

Schedule:
