Looking for a full-time Volunteer Coordinator Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm
Position Summary
The Volunteer Coordinator serves in a leadership role with full responsibility for the planning, management, and growth of the hospice volunteer program. This position owns the volunteer program from recruiting through daily operations and long-term development, ensuring volunteer services consistently support patients, families, and the community while meeting all hospice regulatory and quality standards.
The Volunteer Coordinator is accountable for recruiting, training, scheduling, supervising, and supporting volunteers across multiple service areas, including patient care volunteers, music therapy and pet therapy volunteers, veteran-to-veteran support, and the coordination of Honor Salute ceremonies for veteran patients. This role requires a hands-on manager who can independently oversee the program, guide volunteers, collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, and continuously strengthen and expand volunteer services at Hospice of the North Coast.
Key Responsibilities
Education:
Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, healthcare administration, or related field preferred
Experience
Experience in volunteer management, hospice, or healthcare setting strongly preferred
Other
Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and auto insurance.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team Mission-driven, compassionate, and organized Proficient with electronic records and scheduling systems

Key Responsibilities
- Owns and manages the hospice volunteer program end to end, including recruitment, screening, onboarding, training, scheduling, supervision, and retention of volunteers.
- Leads and oversees patient care volunteers and specialty programs, including music therapy, pet therapy, veteran-to-veteran support, and Honor Salute ceremonies for veteran patients.
- Provides ongoing leadership, guidance, and performance oversight to volunteers to ensure high-quality, compassionate service.
- Serves as the primary point of accountability for volunteer services, partnering closely with the interdisciplinary team to align volunteer support with patient care needs.
- Ensures compliance with hospice regulations and organizational policies by maintaining accurate volunteer documentation, records, and reporting.
- Builds and expands the volunteer program through community partnerships, outreach, and promotion of volunteer opportunities.
- Prepares program reports, tracks volunteer metrics, and participates in quality improvement and program planning initiatives.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, healthcare administration, or related field preferred
