Hospice of Southern Maine is seeking a full time Finance Generalist to support the daily financial operations of the agency by providing administrative support and project assistance in the Finance department.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for accounts payable management; including downloading bills, managing accounting mail/email, enters invoices into finance software. to await department management approval.
- Ensures bills are paid timely, coded to the proper accounts, and are paid based on manager’s approvals.
- Reviews daily registers of gifts and miscellaneous payments received, maintains electronic copies of items.
- Makes in-person cash and large check deposits at the bank, makes electronic deposits using bank scanner; maintains deposit receipts.
- Processes electronic payments through banking imports. Manually processes electronic payments to various vendors via their website or invoice link as needed.
- Inputs vendor information ensuring current W9 forms are on file.
- Ensures all vendor information is on file for 1099 processing.
- Monitors use of credit cards, debit cards and petty cash accounts to ensure policies are followed. Downloads and sends monthly credit card statements to department heads for receipts and enters accounting software.
- Manages and reconciles online DME billing.
- Provides support to staff in the Finance department as projects or new processes arise.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned.
Education & Experience
- Education: High School Diploma (or equivalent) required; Associate degree strongly preferred. 3 years’ successful experience performing finance and accounting work may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Experience: Accounting, accounts payable processing and data entry experience required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, with a high level of skill using Excel required. Experience in a health care setting and/or non-profit preferred. Experience using accounting software, Sage Intacct preferred. Strong organization skills and attention to detail required.
- License/Certification: Valid driver’s license with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or agency requirements and is in good working order.
