Clinical Nurse Team Leader- Hinkle Hospice House
Primary Function:
The Clinical Nurse Team Leader serves the organization in several roles: This employee will provide direct nursing care to Hospice patients as needed, serves in the admissions nurse role as needed, assists the Chief Clinical Officer with supervision of employees and daily unit functions; assist in annual RN and CNA competencies and annual performance evaluations. This employee will act on behalf of the Chief Clinical Officer in relation to clinical supervision - in their absence and also shares call responsibilities.

Positions Supervised: The Clinical Nurse Team Lead of the Hinkle Hospice House assists the Chief Clinical Officer with the supervision of the employees/services of the facility.
Qualifications:

Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina with a BSN, MSN, and/or equivalent experience in nursing

Must be certified to perform CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation).

Previous administrative, managerial or supervisory experience is preferred.

Ability to access patient and family needs and perform all regular nursing functions as defined by license and job description.

Active patient care contact within the past two years with experience as a bedside nurse for the terminally ill is desirable.

Past educational experience is desirable.

Able to interact with patients, family members, visitors, co-workers, and medical staff under a variety of circumstances.

Ability to work with the team concept of patient/family care and to react to crisis situations independently and professionally.

Must be able to work interdependently.

Must be willing to maintain and increase professional skills and knowledge.

Must be able to communicate effectively with staff and patient/families; ability to work with community agencies other health professionals.

Must possess a thorough understanding of Hospice and other health care organizations and knowledge of reimbursement and certification issues.

Must be committed to the Hospice concept and standards.

Must be available for on-call duty.

Possess knowledge of licensing requirements for Hospice in the state of North Carolina.
Job Duties:

Performs duties of staff nurse as necessary. When performing staff nurse duties the Clinical Team Lead must follow all duties of the position (see job description).

Conducts the initial assessment for inpatient direct admissions as needed.

Promotes the use of all resources and Interdisciplinary team concept in Hospice of Davidson County.

Assist in the orientation and training of new staff
-
Assist with supervisory visits, annual competencies and performance evaluations of all staff for the purpose of evaluating Hospice care provided to patient/families.

Collaborates with the Administrative Team Lead to chair the meeting in the absence of the Chief Clinical Officer.

Assist in annual and initial education programs as required by the accrediting body.

Maintains inventory control of stock medications and surgical supplies in collaboration with the Administrative Team Lead.

Assist in policy and procedural reviews and updates.

Assist in unit scheduling in the absence of the Administrative Team Lead.

Reviews and signs off on nursing staff time sheets in the absence of the Administrative Team Lead.

Addresses patients, families, visitors, co-workers, and other healthcare professionals in a helpful, pleasant, and respectful manner.

Completes and turns in payroll changes to Accounting/Billing Specialist every two weeks in the absence of the Administrative Team Lead.

Assist with the HODC education plan including onsite opportunities; helps arrange continuing education opportunities for staff, including CHPN/CHPNA review courses and testing.

Status and Hours of Work:
This position is classified as exempt. Usual working hours are flexible to meet the needs of the unit and coordinated through the Chief Clinical Officer and/or Administrative Team Lead . Evening hours and occasional weekends are expected. This position is not eligible for overtime pay.
