Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
Cumberland House | Weekend and PRN
Position Summary
The CNA provides compassionate, hands-on care to patients at Cumberland House, Hospice of Cumberland County’s six-suite inpatient hospice facility. Working under the direction of the registered nurse, the CNA supports patients’ comfort, dignity, and daily care needs while offering kindness and reassurance to families.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, and other activities of daily living.
- Help patients reposition and move safely, following care plans and safety procedures.
- Observe and report changes in a patient’s condition, comfort, or behavior to the registered nurse promptly.
- Provide respectful companionship and emotional support to patients and families.
- Keep patient rooms and shared care areas clean, safe, and comfortable.
- Follow infection prevention, confidentiality, and facility policies.
- Complete care documentation accurately and on time.
- Communicate professionally with nurses and other members of the hospice care team.
- Perform other duties related to patient care as assigned.
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification in good standing.
- Compassion, patience, dependability, and respect for patients and families.
- Ability to follow care instructions, document services, and work as part of a team.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of patient care, including standing, walking, bending, and assisting with patient movement.
Schedule
Weekend shifts and PRN coverage. Specific shift hours and availability will be discussed during the interview.
Work Setting
Cumberland House provides hospice care in a small, patient-centered inpatient setting. The CNA works under the direction of the registered nurse and in coordination with the hospice care team.
Expected hours: 16.0 – 40.0 per week
