Position Overview

Hoskinson Contracting is seeking a strategic, results-oriented Controller to lead our financial operations and drive organizational performance. This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring financial integrity, operational excellence, and long-term fiscal health.

As Controller, you’ll serve as a key business partner to the CFO and CEO, overseeing all accounting functions, providing actionable financial insights, and ensuring that every dollar contributes to the company’s mission of building exceptional projects with precision and integrity.

Reports To: Chief Financial Officer / Chief Executive Officer

Supervises: Accounting Staff

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the accounting team, ensuring accuracy, accountability, and operational excellence.
• Oversee all accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll, and job costing.
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Coordinate and manage budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Partner with leadership to monitor job profitability and project performance.
• Maintain general ledger integrity and chart of accounts.
• Manage cash flow and banking relationships to ensure financial stability.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Oversee tax preparation, audits, and external financial reviews.
• Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, controls, and reporting accuracy.
• Provide strategic insights to support decision-making and long-term planning.
  
  

Education & Certifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
• CPA designation preferred
• Advanced proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and Microsoft Excel
  
  

Experience

• Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3 years in a leadership role
• Experience in construction or contracting industry required
• Strong background in job costing, project accounting, and performance analysis

Physical & Work Environment

• Office-based, professional environment with occasional visits to job sites
• Sedentary work with minimal physical exertion (up to 10 lbs)
• Must be able to operate standard office equipment and drive a vehicle
• Standard 8–12 hour work shifts depending on business needs
