Job Summary:
The Journeyman Electrician will handle the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in various settings, including residential, commercial, and industrial projects. This position will work closely with project managers and other tradespeople to ensure all electrical work meets safety codes and is completed efficiently. This role requires a high level of expertise in troubleshooting, code compliance, and installation practices.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
Install wiring, electrical panels, circuit breakers, outlets, lighting, and control systems in new construction, renovations, and remodels
Diagnose electrical problems in systems and components, determining the cause and providing solutions
Repair and replace faulty wiring, switches, relays, and other electrical parts to restore functionality
Ensure all electrical work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and any local codes
Adhere to safety protocols, use appropriate protective gear, and implement safe practices to avoid hazards
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and installation instructions to carry out accurate installations and repairs
Conduct tests on electrical systems and components using testing devices like voltmeters and oscilloscopes
Perform inspections to ensure systems function properly and meet safety requirements
Maintain accurate records of completed work, materials used, and time spect on each project
Complete reports. timesheets, and job logs as required by the company and project management
Coordinate with other construction professionals, such as project managers, apprentices, and tradespeople, to complete projects on time
Mentor apprentices as needed, providing guidance on best practices and safety procedures
Interact with clients, answer questions, and provide updates on project progress and timelines
Address customer concerns professionally and provide feedback on any electrical issues
Maintain and organize tools, equipment, and vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition
Monitor inventory of parts and materials and report shortages to project manager or supervisor
Maintain professional license in good standing

Education/Certifications/Licenses
Education
High School Diploma or GED
Electrician Training Program: Completion of a trade school, vocational program, or community college course is a plus
Licenses:
Journeyman Electrician License or ability to obtain
Certifications
OSHA 10 or ability to obtain
OSHA 30 is a plus
CPR and First Aid Certifications is a plus
Experience
Apprenticeship
Completion of a 4 year apprenticeship program through a union, trade organization, or electrical contracting company
4 years of documented on-the-job training, along with classroom instruction, before they can qualify for the journeyman license exam
Required Skills/Abilities
Understanding of electrical circuits, wiring, systems, and National Electrical Code (NEC) standards
Ability to diagnose and repair electrical issues efficiently
Skilled in installing electrical wiring, outlets, switches, control systems, and other components
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and schematics accurately
Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostics equipment, such as a multimeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes
Ability to assess situations and determine the best solutions to complex electrical problems
Precision in following plans, working with small parts, and ensuring all connections are secure and code-compliant
Basic math skills, including arithmetic and algebra, for calculating loads, circuits, and other technical requirements
Steady hands and the ability to handle wires, tools, and small components with precision
Ability to lift heavy objects, stand or kneel for long periods, and work in various environments
Clear close-range vision to identify color-coded wires, read small print, and inspect connections
Familiarity with OSHA guidelines and other safety practices to avoid hazards
Thorough knowledge of the NEC, as well as state and local codes, to ensure all work is up to regulatory standards
Ability to explain technical information clearly to team members, clients, and supervisors
Ability to work well with other tradespeople, project managers, and apprentices on various projects
Professionalism in interacting with clients, addressing concerns, and explaining work performed
Ability to prioritize tasks, complete projects within deadlines, and handle multiple assignments
Ability to document time, materials used, and work completed for each project accurately
