Job Summary
The Certified Medical Technologist plays a vital role in performing and analyzing a wide range of laboratory tests to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. This position is responsible for collecting and processing specimens, conducting complex diagnostic tests, ensuring the accuracy of results, and maintaining the efficiency and integrity of laboratory operations.

Duties and Responsibilities
Collect, prepare, and label patient samples, specimens, and cultures in accordance with established laboratory protocols.
Perform a variety of clinical laboratory tests, including hematology, urinalysis, microbiology, chemistry, and other diagnostic procedures.
Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments such as microscopes, analyzers, and cell counters to ensure accurate performance.
Maintain quality control systems and verify the accuracy and reliability of all test results.
Record, interpret, and report test results promptly and accurately to healthcare providers, noting any abnormal findings.
Follow all laboratory safety, infection control, and regulatory compliance policies.
Identify and resolve technical problems or irregularities in testing and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions as necessary.
Monitor laboratory supplies and reagents to maintain adequate inventory and continuous testing operations.
Participate in research and development activities, including the evaluation and implementation of new laboratory procedures.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide timely and precise diagnostic information.
Assist in training new phlebotomists, technicians, and technologists under the direction of the Laboratory Supervisor.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education, Certifications, and Licenses
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field preferred.
Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT/MT) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) required, or eligibility for certification within two years of employment.
Experience
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting required.
