What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parts Counter Salesperson position at Horwith Freightliner?
Horwith Freightliner, a Lehigh Valley based Freightliner & Western Star dealership has an immediate opening for a Parts Counter Salesperson at our Northampton, PA facility. This is a full-time 1st shift Monday - Friday position.
Responsibilities Include:
- Assists all customers (retail and service department) in selecting required parts in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner.
- Informs customers of companion part requirements and specials and ensures that the customer is exposed to the full product line.
- Answers phone calls, provide price quotes and other information.
- Maintain familiarity with all vendor products, merchandising programs, dealership parts ordering, inventory systems and the dealership’s credit policies.
- Pull and fill orders from stock.
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude.
- Review body shop estimates to be sure the parts that are ordered are correct and all pricing is in line with the estimate.
- Attain the sales and gross profit objectives set by the Parts Manager.
- Promote our company, brand, and visibility.
- Keep current on new products and product updates.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Parts Manager.
- Assist with working nights if needed.
Other Skills and Qualifications:
- At least 2 to 4 years of similar experience in the parts industry.
- Understanding the mechanical interactions of various truck parts.
- Proficient in computer application (MS Office, Exceed).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Keen attention to detail
- Positive attitude
- Self-motivated
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, busy environment.
- Ability to work well on a team as well as independently.
Language Skills
· Must be able to efficiently type an email with good grammar, punctuation and customer service etiquette.
· Must be able to communicate clearly and in educated manner with customers about their vehicles.
· Bi-lingual preferred

Must pass pre-employment testing. Must have a minimum two years of relevant experience or combination of experience and education to meet the requirements for this role. Familiarity with commercial truck part sales and sales processes required.
