Responsibilities

• Perform grooming services including bathing, trimming, brushing, nail clipping, ear cleaning, and styling tailored to each pet’s breed and individual needs
• Handle animals safely and gently using proper restraint techniques to ensure comfort and security during grooming procedures
• Assess each pet’s health and behavior, alerting veterinary staff or owners of any concerns or abnormalities
• Maintain a clean and organized grooming station by sanitizing tools, cages, and work areas regularly
• Provide excellent customer service by communicating with pet owners about grooming preferences, aftercare instructions, and pet health tips
• Assist with pet handling during other animal care activities such as kennel cleaning or pet sitting when needed
• Support team members with tasks like heavy lifting of equipment or supplies to ensure smooth daily operations
• Patience, reliability, and a positive attitude
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills

Experience

• Previous experience in pet grooming is highly preferred; certification from a recognized grooming program is a plus
• Knowledge of dog training techniques and dog handling skills to manage pets effectively during grooming sessions
• Veterinary experience or background as a veterinary technician or assistant enhances understanding of animal health considerations
• Familiarity with animal handling, restraint techniques, and pet care best practices across different species including dogs and horses
• Experience working in kennels or animal shelters demonstrating strong animal care skills
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with pet owners
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as heavy lifting and standing for extended periods while maintaining a lively, positive attitude
