Veterinarian - Spay and Neuter Clinic

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinarian to join our vibrant PAWS Spay and Neuter Clinic team. In this vital role, you will provide high-quality surgical and medical care for dogs and cats in our community, primarily focusing on spaying and neutering procedures. Duties

• Perform spay and neuter surgeries with precision, adhering to aseptic techniques and clinical ethical guidelines
• Conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments, including animal restraint and handling to ensure safety and comfort
• Administer anesthesia using general anesthesia protocols, monitor vital signs, and manage anesthesiology procedures effectively
• Provide post-operative care, including pain management, wound care, and recovery monitoring
• Handle a variety of animals including dogs, cats, and exotic species, demonstrating animal husbandry skills and animal physiology knowledge
• Communicate clearly with pet owners regarding procedures, post-operative care instructions, and health concerns
• Assist with veterinary diagnostics such as laboratory testing, radiography, and other veterinary procedures as needed
• Maintain accurate medical records following veterinary terminology standards and clinical documentation protocols
• Support emergency medicine cases and critical & intensive care when required
• Ensure compliance with all safety standards including animal catheterization techniques, aseptic procedures, and laboratory safety protocols

Skills

• Strong animal restraint skills combined with expertise in animal handling across different species
• Proficiency in anesthesiology practices including general anesthesia administration and monitoring during surgery
• Extensive veterinary experience with a focus on companion animal medicine, surgery, internal medicine, dentistry, cardiology, oncology, and emergency medicine
• Knowledge of exotic animal medicine is a plus for handling diverse cases effectively
• Excellent client communication skills to educate pet owners compassionately and professionally
• Deep understanding of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and clinical ethical guidelines
• Ability to perform veterinary procedures such as animal catheterization, laboratory testing, pet grooming support, and aseptic techniques confidently
• Experience in veterinary critical care environments with the ability to respond swiftly during emergencies
• Familiarity with internal medicine protocols for diagnosing and managing complex health issues in animals
