    Job Summary:
    The School Psychologist promotes student success by providing assessment, consultation, intervention, and collaborative problem-solving services that support students' academic achievement, behavioral functioning, social-emotional well-being, and access to educational opportunities.

    Essential Duties
    1. Conduct comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations to determine eligibility for special education and related services in accordance with federal, state, and district requirements.
    2. Interpret assessment results and prepare written evaluation reports that provide educationally relevant recommendations.
    3. Participate as a multidisciplinary team member in eligibility, IEP, manifestation determination, and other student support meetings.
    4. Support the implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and problem-solving processes.
    5. Consult with teachers, administrators, families, and support staff regarding student learning, behavior, social-emotional, and intervention strategies.
    6. Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of evidence-based academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions.
    7. Collaborate with school personnel to promote positive school climate, student engagement, and safe learning environments.
    8. Monitor student progress and use data to inform educational planning and decision-making.
    9. Assist with threat assessment and crisis response activities in accordance with district procedures.
    10. Facilitate communication and collaboration between schools, families, community agencies, and outside service providers.
    11. Maintain accurate and timely documentation, records, and reports in compliance with federal, state, and district requirements.
    12. Provide professional development and technical assistance to school personnel on topics related to learning, behavior, and special education.
    13. Remain current on best practices, legal requirements, and ethical standards within the field of school psychology.

    Other Duties
    Assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Special Education or designee.

    Job Specifications
    Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.

    Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required)
    • Employee must have a Valid SC Certification as a School Psychologist II or III.

    Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
    • Experience conducting psychoeducational evaluations in a school setting.
    • Experience with MTSS, behavior intervention, and crisis response.

    Physical Requirements

    Additional physical requirements include the following:
    • Physically capable of frequently lifting or moving up to 40 pounds;
    • Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus;
    • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time;
    • Manual dexterity for the purpose of using a telephone and data entry;
    • Read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids;
    • Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; and
    • Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone.
