What are the responsibilities and job description for the Airport Firefighter position at Horry County, (SC)?
Under occasional supervision, on Department of Airport property, enforces federal, local and state laws, County ordinances and Airport policies and procedures related to public safety and welfare.
Candidate must pass a background check without indication of possible aviation security risk as required by the transportation security administration, valid SC motor vehicle operator’s license, and meet pre-employment drug screening requirements.
- Responds to actual or potential aircraft emergencies to prevent or extinguish aircraft fires and rescue aircraft occupants.
- Responds to fires to protect life and property.
- Responds to medical emergencies as a First Responder and providing patient care as appropriate to adopted protocols.
- Works under stressful, high-risk conditions.
