As a Utilities Engineer - Transportation you will be responsible for a variety of projects, taking ownership from start to finish.
What are the core responsibilities for the role?
- Work with a project team consisting of engineers, designers, third-party/utility coordinators and field personnel involved in the design, relocation, coordination, modification, analysis, and constructability of new and existing utility systems as part of large-scale transportation projects
- Work on challenging assignments that include investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of engineering and construction-related issues
- Coordinate utility relocation/coordination efforts on behalf of Federal, State, and Local agencies or utility infrastructure owners
- Follow Federal, State and Local codes, administrative rules, ordinances, regulations and requirements
- Coordinate design activities to ensure installation and operations will comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements
- Work with a team for the execution of detailed design phases for all aspects of utility engineering and coordination work
- Assist with preparation, review, and/or approval of proposals, contracts, and cost estimates
- Assist with negotiation of revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with sub-consultants, and clients
- Work with a team to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget
- Prepare reports and studies that present technical information in a clear and concise manner and meet client requirements
- Perform independent reviews of work performed by others including calculations and drawing preparation
- Leadership opportunities depending on experience
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Degree
- Professional Engineering License
- 5 years of total experience
- 2 years of experience in transportation engineering, design or construction fields
- Ability to effectively contribute to engineering, design or construction projects
- Proficiency in MicroStation (ORD)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
