Position Summary
The Estimating & Sales Professional is responsible for generating repaint revenue through timely lead response, accurate estimating, professional in-home consultations, and consistent follow-up. This role represents Horner Painting's brand, delivers an excellent customer experience, and supports profitable production through accurate scope definition and pricing.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Communication & Lead Management
- Answer and return phone calls, texts, and emails during working hours (flexible, within agreed expectations).
- Confirm all scheduled estimates in advance, including scope clarification, scheduling alignment, rapport building, and qualification.
- Follow up promptly on all open estimates and make estimate adjustments as needed by customer requests
- Respond to customer, Project Coordinator, and crew questions as needed to ensure smooth project execution
- Hand off the estimate to the Project coordinator.
In-Home Estimating & Sales
- Attend all scheduled appointments and proactively generate and schedule additional estimates.
- Conduct on-site walkthroughs with homeowners to define scope, review project details, and explain the Horner Painting process.
- Accurately measure and build estimates using Horner Painting standards and Housecall Pro.
- Present the proposal, address objections/questions, and confidently ask for the sale.
- Document key project details thoroughly for a clean handoff to operations (notes, photos, special conditions, timelines, expectations).
Professional Standards & Schedule
- Attend scheduled appointments primarily Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m. (or as business needs require).
- Maintain professional appearance and conduct at all customer interactions.
- Attend weekly staff meetings, weekly goal-setting/review meetings, and monthly coaching/training.
Skill Development
- Participate in initial and ongoing sales training and coaching provided by Horner Painting.
- Maintain ongoing self-directed education on paint products, techniques, and estimating practices.
Marketing Support & Referral Generation
- Request reviews from satisfied customers and encourage submission of before/after photos and video testimonials.
- Proactively contact past customers for referrals via phone and email.
- Support marketing initiatives by providing feedback from the field and participating in content capture when appropriate.
Performance Expectations (KPIs)
- Maintain a 45% annual close rate.
- Support a 45% gross profit margin on repaint work through accurate scopes, measurements, and pricing discipline.
- Maintain clean, complete, and timely estimate records in Housecall Pro.
Off-Season Expectations (Mid-November to Mid-February)
During slower months, the role remains active with reduced appointment volume and increased focus on improvement work, including:
- Continue core duties above at lower volume (lead response, estimates, follow-ups).
- Analyze marketing performance and contribute improvement recommendations.
- Complete ongoing product/process education and sales training.
- Reorganize, refine, and document estimating/sales processes.
- Assist with miscellaneous projects involving marketing support, data clean-up/analysis, and production support as assigned.
Compensation $75k-$90
- Base pay plus bonus package based on work sold after it has been produced.
- Bonuses may include:
- Monthly production bonus
- Close-rate bonus
- Gross profit bonus
- Additional annual bonus for achieving a defined yearly sales goal
- Additional compensation for leads self-generated with HOAs, property managers, and realtors $5k-$20k
