Position Summary
As an Engineering Department Intern, you will assist the Project Coordinator in fulfilling company goals and ensuring outside agencies requirements are continuously met. You will spend the summer assisting with maintenance, troubleshooting, engine repair, and other tasks. This is a full-time in-person role at the Brooklyn Navy Yard for summer 2026, from approximately May 4 - August 28th. Start and end dates are flexible based on academic schedule.

Duties And Responsibilities
- Demonstrate RESPECT Values with internal and external guests
- Work to achieve the highest levels of performance and productivity
- Ensure all aspects of safety during execution of tasks
- Perform cleaning and custodial tasks of the vessels and property
- Demonstrate ability to trace and draw diagrams of all systems on the vessels i.e., fuel, steering, potable water, etc.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance on vessels i.e., oil changes, filter changes, etc.
- Observe and assist with troubleshooting on vessel systems
- Observe and assist with major engine overhauls
- Observe and assist with vessel replenishment i.e., fuel, potable water, diesel exhaust fluid, etc.
- PM data entry into CMMSData/trend analysis
- Hull survey and documentation of findings
- Additional job duties as assigned
- Currently enrolled in college pursuing a Mechanical, Electrical, or Marine Engineering degree
- Able to commute daily during the internship to and from Brooklyn NY
- Strategic thinker with amiable personality, positive outlook, and expert communication
- Organizational skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Able to work flexible work shifts to optimize learning experience
