Job Description
We are looking for a motivated and dependable Medical Assistant, or Medical Scribe to join our Internal Medicine and Family Medicine practice in Horn Lake.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in pursuing medical school, nurse practitioner, PA school, nursing, physical therapy, or another healthcare profession. Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. Previous medical office, scribe, or EMR experience is a plus, but no experience or certification is required. Experience with eClinicalWorks (eCW) is highly beneficial.
Our practice provides hands-on experience in primary care, chronic disease management, preventive care, and acute patient care.
Four of our medical assistants have been accepted into professional healthcare programs, including medical school, nursing, physical therapy and pharmacy,. We are proud to help motivated employees gain clinical experience, training, and professional references as they pursue their careers.
Responsibilities
- Rooming patients and obtaining histories and vital signs
- Assisting providers with patient visits
- Medical documentation and EMR entry
- Learning and entering CPT and ICD-10 codes
- Prior authorizations and precertifications
- Injections, EKG, X-ray, blood draw
- Patient call-backs and referrals
- Check-in, check-out, phones, and scheduling
- Other clinical and administrative duties as needed
