Individuals interested in possible principal vacancies as indicated above for the 2026-2027 school year should respond to this announcement. The district does not guarantee that vacancies will occur. A pool of selected candidates will be established for possible positions.

 

Purpose

 

To provide leadership, administration, and supervision of the educational program that promotes optimal student development and achievement.

 

Qualifications

 

EDUCATION REQUIRED

  1. Master's degree from a recognized, accredited college or university
  2. Valid Texas Educator Certification
  3. Valid Texas Mid-Management or Standard Principal Certification required
  4. Advancing Educational Leadership (AEL) certificate or its equivalent (ILD/ILT) certificate must be obtained within 3 months of start date as designated by the district.
  5. T-TESS Certification preferred or must be obtained within the first 3 months of start date

 

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  1. 2 years of administrative experience preferred 
  2. Minimum three years of successful classroom teaching experience

OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED

  1. Ability to recruit, select, assign and retain highly qualified and effective personnel to ensure student achievement
  2. Ability to develop & set annual campus performance objectives based on the Texas Academic Performance Report indicators using the campus planning process and site-based decision-making committee
  3. Ability to develop, maintain, and use information systems and records necessary to show campus progress on performance objectives addressing each area on the Texas Academic Performance Report
  4. Ability to build a strong culture and common vision for school improvement with staff by providing high quality, strategic professional learning to ensure attainment of the school’s mission
  5. Ability to communicate and promote expectations for high-level performance to staff and students through a culture of reciprocal trust and feedback
  6. Exemplifies instructional leadership, personal scholarship, a collaborative leadership style, personal integrity, strong interpersonal skills, and effective communication skills
  7. Demonstrated ability as an instructional leader through continual student performance improvement
  8. Possess a thorough understanding of state and federal accountability systems
  9. Models leadership and sustains relationships by taking professional and personal responsibility, while displaying empathy, integrity, collaboration, and approachability
  10. Displays innovation with the ability to use effective public relations skills for the successful implementation and coordination of programs, and to maintain productive relationships among colleagues
  11. Experience leading successful teams, with the ability to build leadership capacity in instruction while working with large, diverse student populations, faculties, families, and communities

Probationary/Term Contract - days dependent upon position and paygrade

2026-2027 Salary Range – dependent upon pay grade and public school experience

Submit a one (1)-paragraph biography, consisting of no more than seven (7) sentences.  The bio must include the following topics:

    2. A Performance Task: PowerPoint presentation (uploaded as full page slides in PDF format) containing responses to the required performance tasks.

You will need to use your current campus data to complete the following performance tasks:

  • Upload a Powerpoint file saved as a PDF (full page slides).
  • The presentation should include no more than 12 slides in total.
  • Your presentation should clearly address Performance Task 1 and Performance Task 2 as described below.
  • Your slides should include both data and explanatory commentary

Performance Task 1: Campus Data Walk

For each of the three areas listed below, provide current campus data and explain the actions you and your team have taken to:

  • Improve student outcomes
  • Address gaps
  • Strengthen systems and results

Please address all three areas:

  1. Student Achievement
  2. Talent Engagement and Retention
  3. School Community and Culture

Performance Task 2: Student Achievement Strategy

Objective: Imagine you have just recevied your school's most recent STAAR accountability report and the report includes areas of concern.  You may select from the sample issues below or choose any current campus accountability data relevenat to your experience.

Example areas of concern for your current campus as measured by STAAR:

  • Low reading proficiency among 3rd graders
  • Students not meeting or mastering expectations in Algebra I

Your task is to outline the following:

  • Analysis of the report to understand the root causes of the three issues most significant concerns.
  • Develop a comprehensive strategy to address these concerns.
  • Define the specific actions you would take and how you would measure the effectiveness/sucess of your initiatives.
