Our Mission
Horizons for Homeless Children is a local non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of young children experiencing homelessness in Massachusetts and helping their families succeed by providing high-quality early education, opportunities for play, and comprehensive family support services. To support our mission, we also advocate on behalf of young children, train educators and human services providers, and provide research on the impact of early education on homeless children.
Summary of Position
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Marketing Intern to join our team. As a Marketing Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of marketing and communications while working closely with our experienced marketing team. This internship will provide insight and give you the chance to apply your skills in a real-world non-profit setting. It will also provide you with a view into the needs and solutions that exist to serve children and families experiencing homelessness.
Responsibilities
· Assist in developing and implementing marketing strategies and campaigns.
· Assist in creating content for various marketing channels, such as social media, email, and website.
· Support the marketing team as they develop, design, and execute campaigns.
· Support the Digital Transformation team with analytics and content development.
· Monitor and analyze online marketing metrics, such as website traffic and engagement.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure marketing initiatives are executed well and with strong messaging and consistent branding.
· Assist in managing social media accounts and engaging with online community.
· Take on organizational and clerical tasks that support marketing operations.
Where and when you’ll work
This is a 30-hour-a-week, part-time position. You can expect to work onsite on Monday through Wednesday from 9 AM-5 PM and Thursday from 9AM to 3PM. There will be occasional evening or weekend events with advanced planning and notice. Our beautiful space is located: Edgerley Family Horizons Center at 1785 Columbus Ave, Roxbury, MA.

Education & experience
- Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and digital marketing strategies.
- Highly organized and able to multitask effectively.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
As a Marketing Intern you will
- Gain hands-on experience in various aspects of marketing which will yield some work samples by the end of the summer.
- Work closely with professionals in the field and learn from their expertise.
- Develop and hone skills in digital marketing, social media management, and content creation.
- Gain opportunities for networking and building connections in the industry.
- Have a better understanding of the opportunities that exist to improve the current family homelessness situation in Massachusetts and beyond.
