Horizon Science Academy Westerville has a full-time opening for the position of a 4th and 5th Grade Math and Science Teacher.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidate must hold a valid teaching certificate within the state of Ohio or in the process of obtaining a license.
- Experience teaching grades 4/5 Math and Science preferred.
- Teaching experience K-12 may vary.
- Outstanding personal/interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills; ability to keep concise records.
- Sensitivity to the developmental stages of children; sensitivity to second language development/acquisition and cultural awareness.
- Openness towards parent communication.
- Experience with technology in facilitating instruction.
- Willingness to be flexible in terms of teaching assignment within the school setting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Support the school's mission, philosophies, values, goals, and policies toward students, parents/guardians and coworkers.
- Design and effectively deliver developmentally appropriate curriculum and instruction which reflects observations and goals of individual children.
- Establish a classroom culture of high expectations.
- Work with the faculty and school leadership to frequently examine student data for ongoing refinement of instruction and assessment.
- Share best practices with other teachers and collaborate with them to improve instructional and assessment practices.
- Facilitate regular parent/guardian communications and conferences to discuss student progress.
- Maintain an organized, attractive and safe classroom environment.
- Have an understanding of PBIS strategies or willingness to learn.
- Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and other stakeholders.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree or Master's Degree Preferred
- Valid OH teaching certificate/license or must be in the process of obtaining a valid OH teaching certificate/license in subject area to be taught
Compensation packages are competitive and commensurate with experience. Horizon Science Academy Westerville offers a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision, life and disability coverage. Employees participate in Ohio STRS (state retirement system). Tuition Reimbursement available up to 5K per year.
