As a Structured Cabling Technician, you will perform critical tasks related to the installation and maintenance of structured cables and data racks. Working mostly in a two-person team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient execution of daily tasks, keeping good communication with Project Managers, and maintaining high standards of customer service and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation and Maintenance:
- Install J hooks and pull cables according to project specifications.
- Build and/or establish pathways for cabling.
- Set up conduit.
- Set up phishing walls.
- Build closets/data racks.
- Terminate face-plates, ensuring proper connections.
- Terminate fiberoptic cables and complete fusion splicing.
- Terminate high-pair copper backbone cables.
- Test and label face-plates and patch panels to ensure accuracy.
- Sleeve walls for conduit protection.
- Coordinate with project managers, Electricals, HVAC, General Contractors, Architects, and Customers to ensure project alignment.
- Customer Relations:
- Maintain honest and transparent dealings with customers to build and sustain positive relationships.
- Perform end-of-day walk-throughs to clean up the work area.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in installing and terminating various types of cables including fiberoptic and copper is a plus!
- Strong understanding of cabling pathways, conduit installations, and data rack assemblies is a plus!
- Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively with other trades.
- Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
- Commitment to safety and quality standards.
Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry materials and tools up to 50 lbs.
- Capability to work at heights using ladders, lifts, or scaffolding.
- Comfortable working in various environments, including confined spaces and elevated areas.
- Daily travel to work site. Must have Valid Driver License. Drug test required.
