Summary
As a Direct Support Professional at United Friends (DSP)/Caregiver, you will provide essential support and care to individuals in our group homes. Your core skills in caregiving will be complemented by premium skills such as first aid/CPR, observation, and assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs). You will be responsible for ensuring the well-being of the individuals through compassionate care, cooking, and maintaining a clean environment. Your relevant experience in long-term care and/or social work will enhance the quality of life for those you serve, making a meaningful impact in their daily lives. We are seeking casual employees who are able to work at least 24 hours per month, including 1 weekend a month, 1 holiday per year but can pick up as many open shifts as are available in both our Little Falls and Pierz homes.
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate care and support to individuals with disabilities in group home settings.
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and meal preparation.
- Monitor and document observations of the individuals, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Administer medications as needed and maintain a clean and safe living environment.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to enhance client care.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in caregiving and direct support roles
- Certification in First Aid and CPR or ability to obtain
- Familiarity with home & community care practices
- Ability to assist with activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Experience in group home setting a plus
- Strong observation and care skills
- Background in long-term care or social work is a plus
- Cooking and cleaning abilities
