Horizon Financial Bank is looking for a Bookkeeper. This position is fillable at any of our locations which include: Bismarck, Devils Lake, Langdon, and Munich.
Bookkeepers are an important member of the organization, and work as a team to support back-office banking functions.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
- The ability to engage effectively, and professionally with all types of personalities.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of personal and financial information for customers and employees.
- Greet all customers, non-customers, and vendors who enter the facility in a friendly and courteous manner.
- Answer the telephone, complete requested transactions, answer customer questions, or take messages or transfer calls as applicable.
- Assist customers and employees with account research and maintenance to include, stop payment orders, application or reversal of fees assessed, statement reprinting, and similar activities.
- Complete ACH and Check returns.
- Initiate check adjustments and process incoming adjustment requests.
- Process overdrafts and non-post items.
- Reconcile internal and external accounts.
- Review and process Mobile Deposits.
- Serve as contact for clients in relation to ACH Origination, to include processing origination files, conducting risk reviews and assessments for origination agreements.
- Process incoming and outgoing wire transfers.
- Serve as point of contact for electronic banking services including internet and mobile services.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Process legal documents and correspondence within mandated time frames.
- Complete garnishments and account verifications.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- Previous banking experience.
- Ability to provide quality customer service and communicate with customers and co-workers in a courteous and professional manner, both orally and in writing.
- Detailed oriented and organized.
- Ability to multi-task and manage time, to include handling interruptions while fulfilling daily functions.
- Ability to think critically and problem-solve.
- Ability to work independently and also in a team environment.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.
