Referral Coordinator (6 months training onsite then fully remote)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Monitors Horizon Eye Care incoming doctor referral fax line, NG Share and the Referring Doctor WG, enters patient’s documentation into the EMR system, creates chart and contacts patients to schedule appointments. Provides quality customer service to patients and referring doctors.  Referral coordinators are responsible for all follow up communication with the referring doctors ensuring that the entire referral process is completed. This position will have the option of being remote after 6 months.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Monitors doctor referral fax line and NG Share throughout the day.
• Monitors the Referring Doctors WG throughout the day.
• Enters doctor referrals and patient demographics into the EMR system and creates a chart.
• Follows-up with referring doctors when or if additional information is needed for referral.
• Contacts patients to schedule appointments.
• Accurately obtains and enters insurance information into EPM system. 
• Tracks the progress of open referrals by creating an EPM task.
• Tracks the progress of record reviews by creating an EPM task.
• Tracks the progress of record requests by creating an EPM task
• Accurately document referral progress and completion in EPM.
• Accurately documents all follow up documentation and communication with the referring doctors.
• Sends tasks to Lead Techs to notify them of referrals.
• Scans and files all referral documents into EMR.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Excellent customer service skills
3. Clear understanding of Medical / Ophthalmology Terminology
4. Solid communication and interpersonal skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. 3 years in a customer service role
2. Prior experience with Electronic Health Records and Outlook
3. 1 year of experience in the practice management system Nextgen
4. Ability to multi-task in a busy, fast paced environment
5. Strong organizational, communication and inter-personal skills
6. Bilingual (English/Spanish)
