GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking highly relational and uniquely qualified Elementary Teachers who delight in guiding young students through foundational years of academic, social, emotional, and spiritual growth. Ideal candidates create structured, nurturing classrooms where students feel safe, known, supported, and encouraged. Teachers take ownership of their subject areas and are committed to delivering engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction within a faith-filled environment grounded in Christian values.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Instructional Planning: Developing and implementing lesson plans that align with course objectives and Horizon core values.
- Classroom Instruction: Teaching Elementary classes as assigned by the principal following the prescribed scope and sequence.
- Curriculum Implementation: Utilizing age-appropriate teaching techniques to achieve curriculum goals within the framework of the school's philosophy.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Creating, administering, and grading tests, assignments, and projects, tracking student progress.
- Biblical Integration: Integrating biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout instruction.
- Classroom Management: Establishing and reinforcing a safe classroom environment for all students according to Horizon policy.
- Communication: Meeting with parents, reporting academic progress and collaborating with staff.
- Professional Development: Participating in staff meetings, training and in-service/ workshops.
- Confidentiality: Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information and following FERPA Compliance.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a closely related field preferred.
- Master’s degree in Education advantageous.
- Elementary teaching experience preferred.
- Ability to uphold the school’s Statement of Faith.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Strong instructional and classroom management skills with a calm, confident classroom presence.
- Ability to nurture and connect with students with patience and encouragement.
- Clear, patient communication with relational strength.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and professionalism.
SPIRITUAL LEADERSHIP:
- Serves as a role model in speech, actions, and attitude consistent with a daily walk with Jesus Christ.
- Models personal spiritual growth and a relationship with Christ.
- Demonstrates respect and care for students under all circumstances.
- Follows Matthew 18 principles when addressing misunderstandings.
- Accepts and teaches the God-given worth of each student as created in His image.
