Position Summary:
The Athletic Director will guide and direct the day-to-day operation of the Horizon Prep athletic department. This includes supervision of the assistant athletic director, coaches, game day personnel, all student-athletes and the community at large. The Athletic Director is responsible for the fiscal management of the Athletic Department’s facilities, equipment, rental agreements, budgeting, and fundraising.
Responsibilities:
- Spiritual Leadership: Lead by example, integrating biblical principles into the athletic program to promote spiritual growth among athletes. Organize and oversee spiritual development activities, such as devotions, prayer before practices and games, and service projects.
- Fundraising and Development: Work with the Head of School to advance athletic department fundraising and development efforts.
- Executive Leadership: Successful experiences with leading a complex department toward the attainment of concrete goals.
- Operational Leadership: Management and growth of the athletic department, including budgeting, scheduling, equipment, rental agreements, and facility maintenance.
- Personnel Leadership: Hire, train, and evaluate coaches and staff, ensuring they align with Horizon Church’s mission and values.
- Speaking and Presenting: Successful experience with public speaking and presenting program improvements.
- Interpersonal Skills and Recruitment: Energized by and enjoyment of meeting new students and families to promote the athletic program.
- Relationship Building: Develop strong, positive relationships with parents/guardians, PTF Ambassadors, donors, and the wider community. Communicate regularly and openly and appropriately involve them in the athletic program.
- Community Engagement: Strengthen the athletic program’s connection with the community through outreach initiatives, partnerships with local organizations, rental of facilities, and hosting community events.
- Compliance and Ethics: Ensure the athletic program adheres to all governing body regulations and ethical standards.
Essential Duties:
- Oversee Athletic Department: assistants, coaches, facilities, and equipment
- Oversee the operation of the Rhetoric, Logic and Grammar school athletic programs
- Oversee scheduling of athletic practices, contests, officials, transportation and facilities to include city partnerships
- Oversee athletic facility rentals in alignment with Horizon Church mission
- Oversee and manage the athletic department budget and follow and maintain uniform purchasing schedule
- Partner with Admissions to oversee all major athletic events such as Homecoming, Senior Days, Awards Nights, Signing Days.
- Organize and delegate game management personnel and responsibilities - gate & concessions workers, scorekeepers etc.
- Employ and/or terminate coaches and/or positions with the help of the Logic & Rhetoric school principal
- Evaluate coaches in their day-to-day involvement within the department and give appropriate feedback through annual evaluations
- Oversee vendor relationships with regards to equipment, uniforms, tournament fees, athletic trips, coaching materials and clinics, etc.

Job Standards and Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree in athletic program or other school administration focus
Experience: 3 years coaching and Christian school leadership experience
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
