What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cook - NEW Crisis Receiving Center position at Horizon Behavioral Heal?
Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
Location: Lynchburg, VA 24504
Position Summary:
The Cook will assist in planning meals; ordering and restocking food, beverages, and kitchen supplies; ensuring that food meets Horizon's high-quality standards; the serving of customers; and maintenance of a clean kitchen and dining area. The Cook provides meals to consumers residing in the Horizon Detox Unit, Crisis Stabilization Unit and the Recovery House.
Required Education and Experience:
- Knowledge, skills and abilities equivalent to that of a high school graduate are required.
- An equivalent combination of training and personal experience that provides the needed knowledge, skills, and abilities is required.
- Experience in institutional foodservice and menu planning is preferred.
Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of food preparation best practices, cooking techniques, and sanitation standards; Knowledge of the principles, procedures, techniques, trends, and literature related to food safety and compliance with VA's Health Department's regulations; Knowledge of daily dietary requirements for individuals in recovery to ensure every meal is healthy and nutritional; Skills to communicate effectively in order to facilitate excellent customer service; and available to work modified schedules (weekends, holiday, etc.) as required; Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver's license. May be required to travel to different Horizon work sites during the day based on operational needs or provide admin support at other locations; Ability to work in and contribute to a collaborative team environment; Ability to promote positive, collaborative, and professional working relations among customers, and co-workers.
