Role Summary:
The Mortgage & Consumer Loan Processor prepares a variety of loan documents in compliance with regulations for both pre and post closings; inputs and maintains records on the core banking system.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Enthusiastically supports the bank sales function by providing exceptional service to internal and external customers of the bank.
- Loan Processing Openers:
- Runs external credit ratings and performs customer inquiries in the core banking system.
- Orders written flood plain determinations, credit reports, appraisals, verification of employment, opinions of title, title insurance, letter reports and other items as needed.
- Maintains a list of loan applications not closed as well as the MLO/Processing calendar of loans that are to be closed and loans pending completion of final documents.
- Prepares and delivers timely compliant application disclosures, notices of incompleteness and denial letters.
- Review files for completeness and corresponds with Lenders accordingly.
- Loan Processing Closers:
- Organizes and handles a fluctuating volume of loan documentation preparation.
- Obtains pay-off information from other creditors as necessary.
- Prepares closing documents for new and refinanced loans. Ensures proper documents and disbursements are prepared accurately for Consumer and Mortgage Loan Originators performing the closings.
- Reviews files to ensure all documents are signed and checks disbursed post-closing. Prepares proper tickets, forms, and set-up of loans on the system.
- Forwards documents to other financial institutions, insurance companies, Register of Deeds, Secretary of State, Department of Natural Resources, and Department of Motor Vehicles to perfect liens on collateral.
- Documents exceptions on the "Closed Pending List" for document exceptions.
- Obtains initial coverage binders or copies of policies from borrowers or insurance agents and maintains up-to-date policies in credit files. Ascertains levels of insurance are appropriate and the bank is listed as Mortgagee.
- Answers department phones on a rotating basis, provides assistance with internal questions or customer inquiries in a timely manner.
- Responsible for acting as a backup for either loan opening or closing duties.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists in the development of manuals and supporting documentation to accomplish tasks/duties inherent to the lending department.
- Updates knowledge and develops professionally on a continuing basis. Participates in internal and external training and development opportunities as required.
- Performs other duties as may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Two years of previous banking or related experience required.
- Ability to plan and prioritize work; exercise good judgment in all areas of responsibility; and work effectively under pressure and deadlines.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a pleasant office environment with minimal chance for personal injury. Frequent mental concentration is necessary for listening and responding to various situations. Must be able to lift and move up to 20 pounds unassisted. Some twisting, bending, and turning is required. Work hours are generally during normal business hours and average 40 hours a week.
