Our Durham team is looking for a strong Architect to join our Education and Public Safety Studio. Our next team member will have excellent communication, design, graphic, and visualization skills. This individual will work closely with our national team to win, manage, design, organize, and coordinate education projects located in North Carolina.

Key Responsibilities:
- Interviewing with Studio Leadership as a key project team member to support winning work.
- Maintains contact with clients, consultants, and contractors during all project phases, participating in marketing, client, and owner presentations as requested.
- Develop a thorough understanding of projects’ design philosophy and provide input in developing a design and building performance strategy, and effectively convey this to assigned team members when appropriate.
- Seek creative and innovative design solutions and develop appropriate models, drawings, sketches, and documents to support these solutions.
- Advance the production of schematic, design development, and construction documents in compliance with project scope, schedule, cost, and design intent.
- Actively collaborates with and coordinates the work of consultants and knowledge resources to ensure the project deliverables are coordinated, integrated, and support the design concept and performance goals of the project.
- Contribute to the preparation of design documents and detailed development of construction documents during all project phases.
- Contribute to the project’s technical design effort, subsequent detailed design development, project coordination, and quality control efforts during all phases of project work, in close collaboration with the project manager and project designer.
- Performs construction administration duties (e.g. RFI’s, CCD’s change orders, etc.)
- Review shop drawings, material samples, and CDs for conformance with design
Qualifications:
- 4 - 8 years of experience in the Architectural field.
- License or pursuit of licensure preferred.
- Experience in the Education sector, PK-12 and Higher Education
- Experience in Public Safety projects including Law Enforcement, Fire/EMS, Emergency Operations Centers, Emergency Communication Centers (E911) preferred.
- Strong Revit skills
- Demonstrated leadership and experience with successful project teams.
- Excellent design, graphic, and presentation skills.
- Experience leading client meetings and sub-consultant coordination.
- Experience in preparing construction documents and leading construction administration activities.
- Strong knowledge of building codes and regulations.
- LEED and/or WELL Building credentials are a plus.
