Hotline Advocates (Temp) provide comfort, support, resources, referrals, and advocacy to survivors of sexual and intimate partner violence and human trafficking who call HopeWorks’ hotline. This is a temporary, full-time position that will run through October 2, 2026. Advocates working primary shifts are required to answer all incoming calls, and when available, another Advocate working secondary shifts will catch any overflow calls. A Supervisor On-Call will be available throughout all shifts to answer questions, approve or deny shelter requests, and provide additional support as needed. Duties include providing an overview of all HopeWorks’ services, dispatching in-person Hospital Accompaniment Program (HAP) Advocates, responding virtually to HAP calls, referring and screening survivors for HopeWorks’ emergency shelter program, performing lethality assessments, completing legal and clinical referrals, and recommending other community resources. The successful candidate will have an understanding of the root causes of sexual and intimate partner violence, have a commitment to social justice, and be able to respond to survivors in crisis in a compassionate and empathetic manner.

Qualifications:
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Successfully complete all required training
- Submit to a background check
- Have a cell phone and computer
- Have private space/home office to maintain client confidentiality
- Availability to work full-time, Monday to Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM
Bilingual candidate strongly encouraged to apply - not required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide comfort and support to survivors of sexual and intimate partner violence
- Inform survivors of services and resources available at HopeWorks, and generally in Maryland
- Work with survivors to develop a safety plan and make referrals to departments at HopeWorks and within in the Howard County, MD community and surrounding counties
- Complete legal department referrals, clinical referrals, and screen for emergency shelter program eligibility
- Respond to virtual Hospital Accompaniment Program requests and perform lethality assessment screens
- Maintain regular communication with the Director of Advocacy Services about cases, trainings attended, and shift availability
- Attend Advocacy Department hotline meetings, all staff meetings, and trainings as needed
- Maintain confidentiality and abide by HopeWorks’ boundary and confidentiality policies
