As a member of the Hopewell's Executive Team and acting as Chief Financial Officer, you are responsible for the overall financial governance, policies, and administrative operations within the Accounting, Finance, and Regulatory Affairs departments. This includes the development and execution of strategy, preparation, and adherence to budget, achieving/exceeding financial goals, and delivering outstanding customer service to our member-owners.
A day in the life of a Chief Financial Officer...
This position is responsible for planning, controlling and reporting on the accounting, financial reporting, and investment operations and activities of the credit union through adherence to established policies and procedures presented by the President/CEO in order to achieve corporate and departmental goals and objectives. This includes oversight of accounting, finance, asset-liability management (ALM), investment, and regulatory compliance. This individual provides counsel to the President/CEO and Board of Directors regarding the credit union's internal accounting and financial reporting systems, policies, programs, and procedures to ensure that they are following generally accepted accounting principles and regulation respecting accounting for credit unions. The CFO conducts analyses and prepares regular reports that depict the financial status of the organization.
Chief Financial Officer qualifications:
- Five - Ten years of progressive financial management experience
- A degree in Finance or recognized Accounting Degree (i.e., Masters or CPA certificate) obtained from a recognized university
- Prior Credit Union or Banking experience preferred; Equivalent knowledge attained through on-the-job experience will be considered
- Strong business analysis, problem-solving, interpersonal, customer management, and project management skills
- Proficient in MS Office products, and proprietary software
- Ability to provide strong leadership and ability to supervise a team in a fast-paced environment
- Able to prioritize work according to deadlines and organizational initiatives to produce assigned outcomes
- Highly developed problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables
